Order Notes

Keep a full audit trail with internal and customer-facing notes on every order.

Order notes let you communicate within your team and with your customers directly from the order detail screen. Every note is timestamped and attributed to the person who added it.

Internal Notes

Add an Internal Note to record information only visible to admin users — such as a specific packing instruction, a query from the customer, or a reason for a delay. Internal notes never appear in customer emails.

Customer-Facing Notes

A Customer Note is sent to the customer by email when added. Use these to provide an update — such as a delay notification or a specific dispatch message. The note also appears in the customer’s order history on their account page.

System Notes

Goose Commerce automatically adds system notes whenever an order status changes, a payment is processed, or a refund is issued. These provide a complete audit log and cannot be edited or deleted.

Viewing Notes

All notes — internal, customer-facing, and system — appear in the Order Notes panel on the right-hand side of the order detail screen, in chronological order.
